The knowledge about Crank Mechanism

The crank connecting rod mechanism is composed of parts of piston group, connecting rod group and crankshaft flywheel group. Function: Convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the crankshaft, and at the same time convert the force acting on the piston into the torque output by the crankshaft.

1. The function of the crankshaft is to convert the force transmitted by the piston and connecting rod into torque, which is used to drive the transmission system of the vehicle, the valve mechanism of the engine and other auxiliary devices.

2. The flywheel is a disk-shaped part with a large moment of inertia, which acts as an energy storage. In the three strokes of intake, exhaust and compression, the flywheel releases its stored energy to compensate for the work consumed by these three strokes, so that the crankshaft's speed will not drop too much.

3. The main function of the piston is to bear the pressure of the combustion gas, and transmit this force to the connecting rod through the piston to drive the crankshaft to rotate. There are three piston rings on the piston, the first trapezoidal ring, the second tapered ring, the side with the "top" mark on the piston ring faces up, and the third is an oil ring with a spiral spring.

4. The function of the connecting rod is to transmit the force borne by the piston to the crankshaft, and convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotational motion of the crankshaft.
